There are many agencies in this country with "amateur cell phone experts" that are wrongly convicting people with inaccurate cell phone evidence.  In this CLE segment, Ben Levitan, a nationwide cell phone expert based in NC, will cover how cell phones work, what evidence you can get, how to get that evidence and to challenge unreliable cell phone evidence offered by the State.

Challenging State Court Convictions in State and Federal Courts By Behzad Mirhashem

Behzad Mirhashem, former Federal Defender, NHPD lawyer and current professor at the UNH Law School, will share his wisdom on post-conviction litigation.  What is possible and what are the best strategies for success in various courts.

Using Chronic Traumatic Encephelopathy as a Defense By Tony Sculimbrene

People undergo brain trauma in a variety of ways.  That trauma can cause long-term effects on behavior, emotional stability, memory and state of mind.  In this session, learn the science behind the diagnosis of CTE and how its effects can impact on criminal mental state.  Long-time defense lawyer, Tony Sculimbrene of Gottesman &Hollis in Nashua will share what he has learned in his practice.  

Ethics and Investigation Using Social Media By Jenna Bergeron

Social media becomes relevant in more and more cases.  This segment will offer advice on developing social media dossiers on witnesses.  It will cover relevant ethics issues and include a discussion of how attorneys use social media and what parameters should be followed for ethical posting. Attorney Jenna Bergeron of Brennan, Lenehan in Manchester will lead this discussion.

Obtaining Annulment in NH By Seth Hipple

The State is ordering new breath test machines.  This segment will provide an update on what to expect and some initial challenges the machines have faced in other states.  Len Harden is a long time practitioner in Coos County.  Part II of this topic will be addressed at the May CLE.

Medical Record Realities By Jennifer Grossman

This segment will cover the inner workings of hospital emergency rooms, what you can expect in medical records, sexual assault testing procedures, how to read an ER record, EMS record and where to look for patient statements in medical records.  Jennifer Grossman is a legal nurse consultant from Brooklyn, NY.
